Iraq...a never ending discussion item

What's amazing to me is that we are still having this discussion. Iraq..should we have gone there or not?

Regardless of the fact that intelligence agencies throughout the world believed that Hussein had Weapons of Mass Destruction. Regardless of the fact that sites where material of a questionable nature (read: it can be used for both peaceful and WMD purposes), were emptied before Coalition Troops (yes...coalition means "a group of people or countries involved in a pact or treaty") could arrive. Regardless of the fact that Hussein had used WMD on his OWN people in the past (remember the Kurds in Northern Iraq). Regardless of the fact that Hussein invaded TWO sovereign nations (Iran and later Kuwait) in his quest for power. This is all evidence of a paranoid megalomaniac.

Fast forward to today, if you will - - Coalition Troops (again, yes, including other countries beyond the US and Britain) have discovered torture chambers, rape rooms, mass graves, evidence of the "disappearence" of thousands of Iraqi citizens and palaces that demonstrated an oppulent lifestyle while Iraqi citizens suffered under economic sanctions.

Now, permit me a comparison. Does any of this sound like ANY other persons in history?? HUH? Oh, that's right...sorry....our schools are more concerned with social development and esteem these days than with providing instruction. Then let me clue you in...

There once was a guy named Hitler, Adolf Hitler to be exact. He was a power hungry dictator that also had no regard for human life beyond the "select few" that were worthy. He invaded sovereign nations, tortured and killed 6 million people because of their heritage, exploited slave and prisoner labor, researched and used WMD (used gasses...was working on nuclear). Sound like a guy you want living in your neighborhood. NO? Why not?

Anyway, the US, Britain, Australia, Canada, Turks and many other Allied countries fought to defeat this tyrant because it was the right thing to do. Same thing for Mussolini in Italy and Emperor Hirohito in Japan...except he was a little more hard headed and required that tens of thousands of his citizens die in the first nuclear warfare before he gave up his Imperial desires.

Ok...now back to today. Sometimes you have to do things because it's the right thing to do. Liberals will NEVER understand this because for them, there is no right and wrong...there is only relativism. We should just all get along and things will eventually work out. Well, sorry to burst your Utopian bubble, but sadly, Life ain't fair....there are bullies, your feelings will get hurt, your self esteem will get crushed, you will fail, you will lose, you will be defeated..and there are bad things and people that must be "forcibly prevented from continuing their actions".

To quote, "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." Edmund Burke (1729-1797)

Blog note

As you will see over the next few months, I will begin posting on more serious issues. Issues of moral, political and national concern. This gives me a place to rant and rave about the lack of common sense and backbone that our country is becoming known for.

Please post your comments. I look forward to the exchange of ideas.

Star Wars the review

Well..it's been a few weeks since I went to see the last in the installment of Star Wars. I was one of the oddballs going to see the movie at 12:01 am the day it released. But it was definitely worth it. We now have the whole story. For those who haven't figured it out by now, we now have the complete story of Anakin Skywalker NOT Luke. The whole series was about his life from the start, to his turning to the Dark Side, to his Redemption.

Overall Episode III was excellent. Yes, some of the acting and dialog came across as wooden. Yes, some of the activities in the movie were predictable. What do you expect? You already know the destination for the movie. You just aren't quite sure how you're going to arrive there. I'm just glad that all the questions you ever had about the series have now been answered. Once you see the movie, you should definintely watch Episode IV. There will be so much more that you will notice.

I can't wait for the complete boxed set..perfect Christmas gift!!
